The
familiar sounds of cheering crowds and hard-hitting action
are beginning to fill the air as the Green Bay Packers open
their summer training camp to the delight of NFL fans from
July 24 to August 28.
Packers fans from across the country fill
the bleachers and line the fences for the opportunity to
get an up close and personal vantage point of some of their
favorite players as they sweat through two-a-day practices
full of drills, conditioning and scrimmages. Many fans show
up early to find the best viewing spot for the free practices.
The action starts on July 24 as the rookies
and first-year players take to the field for an afternoon
practice, and builds as the veterans join the rookies on
July 27 for the start of two-a-day practices. Morning practices
run from 8:45-11:25 a.m., with afternoon practices generally
running from 2:15-3:15 p.m., or from 2:45-4:10 or 4:40 p.m.
Practices rotate between Clarke Hinkle Field and Ray Nitschke
Field on a periodic basis.
Of
course, the Green Bay Packers fun isn’t limited to
the on-field action. Located across the street from the practice
fields in the Brown County Veterans Memorial Complex, The
Packers Training Camp Experience (920/405-1141)
gives fans of all ages the opportunity to get into the game
with a variety of interactive football events and games.
Try the Extra Point Kick, run the obstacle course and celebrate
success with Leap into Lambeau. Fun for the whole family,
The Packers Training Camp Experience is open July 22 to August
24.
Next door, visitors can stroll through
impressive displays of Packers nostalgia at the Green
Bay Packers Hall of Fame (1-888-442-7225). Interactive
exhibits demonstrate the tradition and excellence of America's
favorite team. View replicas of the trophies and rings from
Super Bowls I, II and XXXI, relive some of the greatest moments
in Packers history in the Touchdown Highlight Theatre or
