Green Bay, WI –The 3rd Annual Green Bay Duathlon is set to take to the streets of Packer Country on Sunday, October 1, 2006. More than 600 people are expected to participate in the event, which features three legs – a 3 mile run, a 32 mile bike ride and a 1.3 mile run. The start/finish line is on Armed Forces Way near the Best Western Midway Hotel.
“The Green Bay Duathlon is certainly building on the success of its first two years,” said Joel Everts, Sports Sales Manager for Packer Country Visitor & Convention Bureau. “Participants will run through the heart of the Lambeau Field entertainment district, circle the football landmark, then bike along the beautiful riverfront through Ashwaubenon,
De Pere, Wrightstown and Allouez.”
Entrants can participate in the Green Bay Duathlon as individuals or as 2 or 3 person relay teams. “Midwest Sports Events has created an event that draws participants from throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest,” Everts said. “It’s a special event that takes in historic Lambeau Field and the fall colors along the river. It should be exciting for for the participants and for the spectators who take in key parts of the event like the start of the race and the transition area.”
Spectators and participants at the Green Bay Duathlon can also support the MACC Fund (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer) through the MACC Fund raffle. Raffle tickets are $2 each with a chance to win a Suzuki Scooter, Trek Bikes, Tri Gear shopping sprees and other prizes.
