Packer Country Gears Up for Lake States Logging Congress

Green Bay, Wis.
August 31, 2006

Green Bay, WI –The largest display of logging, sawmill and trucking equipment in the Midwest will be part of the 61st Annual Lake State Logging Congress in Green Bay on September 7-9, 2006.

“This is one of the premier logging shows in the nation,” said Katie Green, Director of Marketing for Packer Country Visitor & Convention Bureau. “An event like this, which is open to the public, demonstrates the importance of the logging industry to Wisconsin and the Midwest.”

More than 30,000 people are expected to attend the three-day event at ShopKo Hall, Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena and the Lambeau Field parking lots. Packer Country estimates an economic impact of nearly $2.5 million from the Logging Congress.

The Timber Producers Association of Michigan and Wisconsin hosts the logging congress each year, alternating between the two states.

One of the highlights of the logging congress will be the Lake States Lumberjack Championship. There will also be demonstrations of a wide variety of forestry equipment, educational displays and a display of the “Flying Trees,” the Wisconsin Plywood Industries’ contribution to the WWII exhibit.

Hours for the 61st Annual Lake States Logging Congress are:

  • Thursday — Noon - 5 p.m.
  • Friday — 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Saturday — 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

General admission tickets are $10 per person and are good for all three days. Children are free when accompanied by an adult.
