Football and More during Packers Game Weekends

GREEN BAY, Wis.
August 16, 2006

Green Bay, WI –Visitors to the Green Bay area can’t go wrong if they’re looking to immerse themselves in everything Packers during a home game weekend at Lambeau Field.

“Green and gold is certainly the dominant color in Packer Country each fall,” said Katie Green, Director of Marketing for Packer Country Visitor & Convention Bureau. “It’s easy to find Packers-related things to fill your day.”

For those thinking only ‘green and gold’ on a Packers weekend, be sure to check the many attractions at the Lambeau Field Atrium. A visit to the Packers Hall of Fame is a must, not to mention the Lambeau Field Stadium Tours. Whether it’s lunch, dinner or an
in-between snack, Curly’s Pub and the Hall of Fame Grill provide great food and refreshments. A stop at the Packers Pro Shop is also a must for Packers clothing, souvenirs and other merchandise.

A Packers immersion weekend should also include a visit to the Old City Stadium, located adjacent to Green Bay East High School. Just a few miles north is the newly-restored Birthplace of
Curly Lambeau.

“A great way to take in the many Packers landmarks and Green Bay’s football history is aboard the Visitor and Convention Bureau’s Legends of Lombardi Avenue Tour,” Green said. Legends of Lombardi Avenue™ takes participants on a 75-minute guided tour through the Green Bay area aboard an authentic London
double-decker bus, highlighting famous sites of yesteryear as well as Packers hotspots of today. New this year is the addition of an evening “Tailgate Tour” for adults ages 21 and older, running approximately two hours in length and including a stop at a favorite local sports bar. “The popularity of our daytime family tours led us to add evening tours to the 2006 schedule,” Green said.

Family Tour tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for ages 12 and under. Tailgate Tour tickets are $20 per ticket. Tours are offered on the following upcoming dates and times:

Family Tours (start time 11 a.m. at the Brown County Arena)

Tailgate Tours (start time 6 p.m. at the Regency Suites)

Additional details about the tours are available on the Visitor and Convention Bureau’s Web site at www.packercountry.com or by calling 888-867-3342.

And despite the common belief, Green says it’s a misconception that all of the hotels are filled throughout Packer Country on Packers home game weekends. “While unfilled rooms aren’t plentiful, there are usually available hotel accommodations in the area during home games,” Green said. “Anyone looking for Packers weekend rooms can contact the Packer Country Visitor & Convention Bureau for assistance.”
