Convention Planning Made Easy in Packer Country

GREEN BAY, Wis.
May, 2006

Green Bay, WI -- Meetings and conventions produced $136 million in economic activity in Packer Country last year. The Packer Country Visitor & Convention Bureau works with more than 500 conventions, sporting tournaments and community festivals annually. The VCB has developed a full-color Convention Planner to draw additional bookings.

“About 21 percent of overnight visitors are here for a conference or meeting so the economic impact is significant,” said Beth Peters, Director of Sales for Packer Country Visitor & Convention Bureau. “But there’s still a lot of room for growth.”

The Convention Planner features a fun theme “Host Championship Meetings on Our Turf” and is packed with the latest information on the beautiful and unique facilities, amenities, attractions that make Packer Country attractive to those planning conventions and meetings. The 36-page, full-color magazine highlights ten meeting and conference facilities, as well as 38 auxiliary meeting and banquet facilities in Greater Green Bay, the Oneida Nation, Algoma, Kewaunee, Mishicot and Two Rivers.

“Convention trade is a major market segment and initiative of the bureau, and this planning guide provides one-stop-shopping for groups with an interest in booking something in the Green Bay area,” said Kari Sliva, President and CEO of the Packer Country Visitor and Convention Bureau. “This is a joint effort among our major hotel and banquet facilities in the area. Whatever we can do to make the event planner’s life easier brings them one step closer to visiting Packer Country.”

The area’s meeting and conference facilities include:

  • Best Western Midway
  • Comfort Suites Hotel & Conference Center/Rock Garden
  • Day’s Inn City Centre
  • Fox Hills Resort
  • Holiday Inn City Centre
  • Howard Johnson
  • Kress Inn & F.K. Bemis Conference Center
  • Lambeau Field Atrium
  • Quality Inn & Suites
  • Radisson Hotel & Conference Center
  • Ramada Inn
  • Regency Suites Hotel & KI Convention Center
  • Tundra Lodge Resort & Waterpark

“Those involved in planning a convention or meeting will find a lot of helpful information for their planning purposes,” Peters said. “There are also separate sections that focus on meeting resources and activities, and convention services provided by Packer Country Visitor & Convention Bureau, including the bureau’s new automated Online Housing Reservation System.”

The Online Housing Reservation System allows meeting and event planners to block hotel rooms in multiple hotels, making the reservation process easy for delegates as well as event organizers.
