"Friendly Algoma" Hits the Air on Discover Wisconsin

GREEN BAY, Wis.
February 16, 2006

Algoma, WI – The Algoma area will again take the spotlight with re-airing of the Discover Wisconsin television episode, “Friendly Algoma.” From the Ahnapee Trail and the Art Dettman Fish Shanty to the Flying Pig and Historic Walking Tours, the focus will be all Algoma.

The Discover Wisconsin episode is scheduled to be re-broadcast on February 18 & 19 throughout the Midwest. In Packer Country, you can catch the “Friendly Algoma” episode on Saturday, February 18 at 10 a.m. on Fox Sports Net and at 5 p.m. on WGBA TV-26 (NBC). It will also be shown Saturday at 6 p.m. on W22BW TV-22 (NBC) in Sturgeon Bay.

“It’s tremendous to have an area like Algoma featured on Discover Wisconsin,” said Kari Sliva, President & CEO of Packer Country Visitor & Convention Bureau. “There are some great events in Algoma like Shanty Days, the Concerts in the Park and the Wet Whistle Wine Festival, as well as tremendous destinations like von Stiehl Winery and the Algoma Lighthouse.”

The Discover Wisconsin program on Algoma was written and produced by Sandie Rohrer and hosted by former Miss Wisconsin Stephanie Klett. The show was made possible by funding from the Wisconsin Coastal Management program, the Algoma Tourism Promotion Association and the Chamber’s Tourism Committee.

Discover Wisconsin is the oldest running tourism program in the country and has earned several broadcasting awards.
