Online Getaway Auction to Benefit Hurricane Victims
Packer Country Partners Donate to Charitable Effort

GREEN BAY, Wis.
October 6, 2005

Green Bay, WI – Packer Country’s hotels and attractions are teaming up to raise funds for those affected by the hurricanes in the Gulf Coast region. The first Packer Country “Retreats for Relief” packages will go on sale on eBay Thursday, October 6, 2005 (today) at 4:00 p.m. (CDT).

“We’ve been able to put together some one-of-a-kind getaways for people to bid on,” said Kari Sliva, President & CEO of Packer Country Visitor & Convention Bureau. “Those of us involved in tourism, lodging and entertainment were looking for a way to reach out and help those hurt by the recent hurricanes. This is a way of using our existing resources to benefit those who need assistance.”

All proceeds from the on-line auction will be given to the American Red Cross to aid those affected by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita. Each Packer Country “Retreats for Relief” package will be open for bid on eBay for seven days with a minimum bid of $50. “We currently have a total of 12 packages, but still hope to put several more packages together as the program gets rolling,” Sliva said.

Donations to the effort have come from a variety of area organizations and businesses, including:

  • Green Bay Packers
  • Hilton Garden Inn
  • Super 8 Motel
  • Heritage Hill State Park
  • Weidner Center for the Performing Arts
  • Fox Hills Resort, Mishicot
  • Marty’s Boston Crab
