Pumpkins & Ghosts Invade Packer Country

GREEN BAY, Wis.
September 27, 2005

Green Bay, WI – Scary displays and pumpkins are beginning to appear, an indication that Halloween events aren’t far behind. Throughout Packer Country there are a host of ‘spooktacular’ events for kids of all ages.

“It’s certainly a fun time of year and there are some tremendous opportunities to enjoy Halloween events throughout the area,” said Katie Green, Director of Marketing for Packer Country Visitor & Convention Bureau. “Whether it’s Pumpkinfest in Mishicot, Pumpkin Palooza on Broadway or learning about animals at a non-scary Halloween Event at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary, there’s a little something for everyone.”

Here’s a rundown of the upcoming Halloween-related events and festivals in Packer Country:

  • Pumpkin-Palooza on Broadway
    Saturday, October 1, 2005

Visit the Broadway district in Green Bay to kick off the fall season with free hayrides, vintage cars, a petting zoo and more. While shopping the stores, children can participate in Halloween crafts and trick-or-treating.

  • Great Pumpkin Train – National Railroad Museum
    Saturday & Sunday, October 8-9, 2005

It’s the annual hunt for the perfect pumpkin. Visitors ride the Museum's train to the pumpkin patch, where everyone is welcome to select their very own pumpkin. The Great Pumpkin Train will be pulled by a live steam locomotive. The weekend also features a variety of entertainers.

  • Spooktacular Fun – Lambeau Field Atrium

The Green Bay Packers host their third Halloween-themed event, 'Spooktacular Fun,' at the Lambeau Field Atrium. New to this year’s event are Nikki’s Kid Show and performances by Comedy City. There’ll also be a variety of interactive and entertaining activities, including magic, face-painting, miming, clowns, stilt walkers, a juggler and more.

  • Halloween Event – Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary
    Saturday, October 22, 2005

The 12th Annual Halloween Event at the Wildlife Sanctuary’s Nature Center includes tours that feature a variety of oversized wildlife, including a skunk, mosquito, bat, moth, wolf and more. The animals are portrayed by costumed students who talk about the animal they’re portraying. Kids also receive treat bags. (Pre-registration is required for a specific tour time.)

  • Halloween at Heritage Hill
Thursday through Sunday, October 27-30, 2005

Every night is a family-friendly night of fun and fantasy. Activities include costume contests, fortunetelling, games, a straw maze, storytelling and more. There’s also the Magic Lantern Show.
