Farm Technology Days Return to Brown County in 2008 -
After 39-Years Away, Farm Technology Days Are Back and in Need of Volunteers

GREEN BAY, Wis.
August 12, 2005

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Last held in Brown County in 1969, Wisconsin Farm Technology Days will return to the area in July, 2008.

Farm Technology Days is the state’s largest outdoor agricultural show. The annual three-day event showcases the latest improvements in production agriculture, including practical applications of recent research findings and technological developments. The event also offers plenty of demonstrations, youth programs, and family activities for the thousands attending each day.

An event of this magnitude requires years of planning and assistance from all areas of expertise. “We’re up to the three-year planning challenge,” said Beth Peters, Packer Country Visitor and Convention Bureau Director of Sales. “This is the largest farm exposition in the state of Wisconsin, bringing over 100,000 people to the area in just three days’ time, and we are proud to be given the opportunity to host such an impressive event.”

Peters is just one of many on the executive committee heading up the 2008 event. Farm Technology Days is run by a group comprised of representatives of state and federal agencies involved in agriculture and natural resources, the University of Wisconsin, and the agribusiness-industry and farming sectors. Joining Peters on the 2008 committee are Deb Barlament, Bayland Buildings; Mike Gerrits, Country Aire Dairy; Ken Jenks, Greenleaf Wayside Bank; Stan Kasmerik, area farmer; Margaret Klug, area farmer; Dick Koltz, Brown County Fair and Rock K Ranch; Lynn Kroll, Wisconsin Public Service; Jack Krueger, Brown County Board of Supervisors; Marty Nackers, NWTC; Dave Running, UW – Brown County Extension Office (retired); John Schmidt, Progressive Farmers Cooperative; and Dan Schreiner, UW – Brown County Extension Office.

In addition to the talents of this capable executive committee, scores of volunteer assistance will also be needed to make this 2008 event a success.

“You don’t have to be an agricultural professional to help with this event,” said Peters. “With an event covering over 400 acres of space, hosting hundreds of exhibitors, and spanning three days’ time, there are opportunities for volunteers in a variety of areas.” Some of the volunteer assistance needed falls in the categories of hospitality, publicity, promotions, food and beverage, youth programs and activities, grounds, traffic, admissions, field layout, demonstrations, signage, tents, and utilities.

Further details about the location and dates of the 2008 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days held in Brown County will be available in the near future, but event committees are forming now. Anyone interested in assisting with the planning or staffing of this event is encouraged to contact:
