Packer Country Develops Sports Facility
Guide
GREEN BAY, Wis.
July 7, 2005
GREEN BAY, Wis. (July 7, 2005) –
Look around Northeast Wisconsin and you'll
find some top-notch sports facilities. Of
course, at the top of the list is Lambeau
Field, home of the Green Bay Packers. Nearby
are the Resch Center and Brown County Veteran's
Memorial Arena. Those are the biggies, but
there are many other excellent facilities
that don't garner as much attention.
Packer Country Visitor & Convention
Bureau (PCVCB) wants event planners and
others to know about the many excellent
sports venues in the area. That's
the idea behind the Sports Facilities Guide
that Packer Country is producing for distribution
this fall.
"This area has some tremendous facilities,
from soccer fields to ice rinks to baseball
diamonds to high school field houses,"
said Kari Sliva, Packer Country President
& CEO. "The sports facilities
and the area's other accommodations
are a great combination that help to make
Packer Country an attractive destination
for an increasing number of large sporting
events."
Joel Everts, PCVCB Sports Sales Manager,
says the recent Women's National Hockey
Championships and the upcoming ASA Girls
Softball National Championships are just
a couple of new events that are coming to
the area. "The NCAA Volleyball Regional
at the Resch Center last December is another
example of the events that are now looking
at Packer Country as a potential host,"
Everts said.
The Sports Facilities Guide will be similar
to PCVCB's Meeting Planners Guide,
which provides information about the area's
meeting and convention facilities. The new
publication also offers new advertising
opportunities for area businesses.
"Staging a national sporting event
in Packer Country is very attractive to
many organizations once they realize what
facilities are available," Everts
said. "We can provide top-notch sports
venues, as well as a small town feel and
hospitality second to none. That's
a tremendous combination."
