Baylake Bank Tall Ship Festival Dates Announced
GREEN BAY, Wis.
April 29, 2004
GREEN BAY, Wis. (April 29, 2004) – The Baylake Bank
Tall Ship Festival Committee has announced that the fourth
annual event will be held July 23-25 at the Port of Green
Bay, Leicht Park, 100 Dousman Street.
Baylake Bank Tall Ship Festival attracts an estimated 10,000
visitors to Downtown Green Bay for three-days of dock-side
on-board tours, historical interpreters and exhibits, entertainment,
and food.
“We invite everyone with an interest in these beautiful
schooners, the nautical history of our area, or just in having
fun, to join us. It’s a wonderful opportunity for families
and individuals to experience part of the adventure and mystique
that tall ships represent,” said Jeff Mirkes, Executive
Director of Downtown Green Bay, Inc.
Baylake Bank Tall Ships Festival is a combined effort of the
City of Green Bay, Port of Green Bay/Brown County, Downtown
Green Bay Inc., the Packer Country Regional Tourism Office
and its presenting sponsor, Baylake Bank.
“We are thrilled that Baylake Bank is once again on
board as our presenting sponsor, and we look forward to another
successful event with the bank’s strong community support.
This partnership allows us to keep ticket prices affordable
to the public who want to tour these beautiful ships, ”
said Dean Haen, Port Manager, Port of Green Bay.
Ship touring hours are daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ticket on-sale
dates and rates have not yet been set, but will be announced
as the event approaches, and as the festival committee confirms
which ships will visit Green Bay.
One of the forerunners is the Bounty, a replica ship
built for the 1962 movie “Mutiny on the Bounty,”
starring Marlon Brando. Moviegoers may also recall the recently
popular “Master and Commander” film starring Russell
Crowe, capturing some of the excitement of the life of a tall
ship.
