GREEN BAY, Wis. (December 30, 2003) – As
the Green Bay Packers, NFC North Division Champions, prepare
to host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, January 4, the local
hospitality industry expects fans to spend $3 million in
the local economy.
“Of course we are very excited about the Packers’ victory, especially
since the game will be played on our home field,” said Kari Sliva, President
of the Packer Country Regional Tourism Office. “From a tourism standpoint,
what a wonderful way to start off the new year.”
The Regional Tourism Office sent a box of “Packer Backer” cheese
from the Cheese Shoppe in Green Bay to the Tempe, Arizona, Convention & Visitors
Bureau as a token of appreciation for the Cardinals’ miraculous win over
the Vikings Sunday.
Local hotels are still reporting vacancies as of Monday evening for both Jan.
3 and Jan. 4.
