Farm Fest 2003
Kewaunee, Wis.
March 7, 2003

Farm Fest 2003 has sprung from the renowned Smithsonian Institution's travel exhibit, Barn Again! which the Kewaunee Heritage Farm will host for eight special weeks June 6 - July 20. Farm Fest 2003 will host five local exhibits, special displays and events related to Wisconsin's rural life. Barn Again! and these exhibits are free to the public; ground admission is $2.

JUNE 7 & 8, 2003 (Opening Weekend)
THEME - Coming Together: A Country Fair & An Old-Fashion School Picnic:
All the good times associated with farm families getting together: box lunches, lemonade and ice cream, stump speakers, tractor pulls, strolling Performers, and arts and crafts. On Sunday, the School Picnic, full of fun, games, and class reunions from as many of the country schools as we can find!

JUNE 13-14-15, 2003
THEME - Experience America's Dairyland:
Come to Heritage Farm and join a group going to visit a local dairy farm where you can see the real action! Back at Heritage Farm look at the way they used to make butter, cheese and ice cream. Also a show of photographic images that help bring rural images to life.

JUNE 20-21-22, 2003
THEME - Wisconsin Farm Treasures: Quilts, Cook Stoves, Tractors & Plows:
The best of the entire state's quilts and rag rugs and many special pieces of farm equipment including the array of innovative equipment manufactured in Wisconsin. And it's BLUEGRASS WEEKEND, with five performing groups that put the fiddle in high gear.

JUNE 27-28-29, 2003
THEME - History In A Different Scale:
Learn a lot about farm heritage by viewing this show of toy tractors and farm equipment, model barnyards and toy animals. And there are dolls! Heard about Antique Road Show? We'll have one all about Antique Toys and Dolls!

JULY 3-4-5-6, 2003
THEME - Ethnic Celebration! The Explosion of Immigrant Cultures:
In the 19th century, thousands of people made Wisconsin their new home, bringing with them ways of living, traditions, foods and music that we want to see stay alive. Walk through an 1840's Rendezvouser Encampment, sample many flavorful German foods, dance and sing with Polish, Czech and German bands.

JULY 11-12-13, 2003
THEME - Agri-Culture! Drama, Dance, Signs and Songs:
"The Chocolate Cow" delights children and adults. The Wildspace Dance Company turns photographs into performances. Antique signs tell us about the past and songs of yesterday blend with those of today.

JULY 18-19-20, 2003
THEME - Czech It Out!:
Wow, this is a festive weekend! The John Hruska Band, Gene LeBotte & his Orchestra, Bob Kuether, Malik's Fishermen, Clete Bellin and the Fritz Wilfahrt Band will be featured. Area bandleaders whose zest has brought musical entertainment to thousands will be honored.

JULY 25-26-27, 2003
THEME - The Magic of Heritage Holidays:
Whether Christmas, Kwanza or Hanukkah, yesterday and today our holidays are special times and rural traditions of decoration and merriment illustrate this. View holiday arts and crafts and demonstrations of making ornaments by hand and candies from scratch. Plus attend a Country School Christmas Program, or participate yourself! What a July!
