Winter Fun Heats Up in Packer Country
GREEN BAY, Wis.
Jan. 6, 2003

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - When the weather gets cold in Packer Country, the action gets hot - indoors and out. From the excitement of snowmobiling to the spectacle of a touring Broadway performance or the thrill of casino gaming, winter in Packer County is no time for hibernation.

Grab the poles, slip into the bindings and hit the trails for a spectacular winter experience on Packer Country's extensive system of cross-country skiing trails. With plenty of rolling landscape and abundant snowfall you are sure to find the perfect trail whether you are a seasoned pro looking for a challenge, or a first-timer just out to try something new.

For those looking to get the adrenaline pumping with a little more power,
Packer Country's is a snowmobiler's paradise. Whether cruising across the open farmlands or enjoying the scenery while cruising along the Lake Michigan shoreline, riders can get up to date trail conditions and trail maps by calling the Brown County Snowmobile Alliance (920/448-4466), Kewaunee County Snowmobiling (920/388-7199) and Manitowoc County Snowmobile Trails (920/758-7669).

Children of all ages fill the air with laughter during a day of snowtubing down the Packer Country hills. Open weekends all winter long, the Winter Sports Complex (920/388-0444) in Kewaunee thrills young and old alike with five snow-tubing chutes, each more than 500 feet long. And the fun doesn't stop when you reach the bottom. Simply grab a hold of the towrope and enjoy the ride back to the top of the 150-foot high hill. Snow lovers in Green Bay can head over to the Triangle Sports Area (920/448-3365) for a day of fun on the 350-foot long tubing runs.

Winter in Packer Country isn't all about the outdoors though of course. From Broadway shows to the cheer of the crowds, there are plenty of ways to heat up the winter days and nights. The arts come to life as touring companies take to the stage at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts (920/465-2217) in a display of spectacular costumes, song and dance. Winter highlights include Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance (January 3-5), Spider-ManÔ Live! (January 23-26) and Disney's Beauty and the Beast (February 11-16).

Sports fans can cheer on the home team as Green Bay Gamblers Hockey (1-800-895-0071) and University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Basketball (920/465-2625) take to the friendly confines of the new Resch Center. And the happy cheers continue over at Oneida Bingo & Casino (1-800-238-4263) as visitors test their skills at blackjack, high stakes bingo and slots.
